Hello everyone! Happy Friday! After a year of living in our house I feel like some rooms are finally pulling together and I am excited to start showing you around. This week…the master bedroom.
You have no idea how good it feels to finally have a bedroom that I LOVE! It took a while to find the right combo of fabrics, colors and textures, but now I can say it is perfectly “Tessie” and I have been giddy about it all week. I am also happy to report that the hubby is enjoying it too. He pretty much gives me full reign when it comes to decorating and puts up with all my pinks… which I am so grateful for because a pop of pink just makes my heart sing 🙂
Pale blue, pink and gold aren’t a usual color combo but I love how the soft colors contrast with the high contrast headboard. The bed was purchased at Pottery Barn a few years ago and I recovered the headboard with a fun dalmatian print. The headboard recover was so quick and easy that I wasn’t too worried about using such a bold pattern.
The curtains on the side of the bed add a touch of softness and bring that light airy feeling I was hoping for.
The bedside tables are from West Elm and the artwork above the nightstands was made by me 🙂
I wanted something personal on the walls so I watercolored two sayings that my husband and I have been saying to each other (or writing in love notes) since we were dating.
I bought the big leaner mirror from HomeGoods a few years ago.
But my favorite part of the room is the little reading nook. It sits in front of a big sunny window and faces our bed. It is the perfect spot for the kids to chat with us on our bed or read in the sunshine.
The little pink and gold martini table from West Elm is sheer perfection. I just love how the color and texture compliment the green velvet chair.
And every room needs a little greenery especially here in Minnesota in February. Oh spring, why are you so elusive?
The curtains are from West Elm. I like how the beige medallion pattern picks up the tones of the golds in the room and keeps the space feeling warm.
The sheer cotton drapes on the canopy bed were the perfect final element that the bed needed. Once I hung them up I may or may not have been jumping around like a crazy lady and grabbing my teenager daughters to show off their prettiness 🙂
A simple, light and airy master bedroom that I love. What do you think? What would your dream bedroom be like?
