Whew! It has been a crazy week with all the kids home for fall break. We had lots of fun going to the apple orchard and getting our family pictures taken but I did not make much progress on Emma’s room.
After a fun filled long weekend I did finally get a chance to start painting Emma’s mid century hutch.
I am using chalk paint by Renaissance in “snow”. The paint is quite thick so I have been doing a bit of sanding between coats (to remove the brush lines). It also has been super useful using an angled brush with a stubby little handle. It makes it easier to fit into the tight corners.
I wanted the hutch to be a bright white but I am feeling like the “snow” color is a bit stark. It needs to be just a tad bit warmer. I have some leftover Annie Sloan chalk paint in “old white” that is a nice creamy color. I am thinking of mixing a bit of it with the Renaissance to see if that warms it up a bit. I’ll keep you posted 🙂
I’m still waiting for my pretty patterns to arrive. I will be covering the back of the hutch with wrapping paper that I designed myself and ordered from Spoonflower.
I am itching to get all the painting done so that I can start styling the shelves. I found the most beautiful books this week.
Are they not the prettiest things? This classic book set from Puffin just makes my heart sing. You can find them here.
The covers are truly swoon worthy.
I can’t wait to see them all lined up on the hutch once it is finished!
I also wanted to show you this adorable little succulent. I found her at Ikea when I was picking up Emma’s bed a few weeks back. I feel like every room should have a little something that’s alive.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for you today! I am going to put the last coats of paint on the hutch and hopefully the patterns will come in the next couple of days!!
