Are you ready for some serious cuteness? I just finished making this little mouse in a tin and I am seriously DYING. She is just so darn adorable!
She is made of felt and sewn by hand complete with her own little mattress, pillow and blanket.
The sweet little mouse is sewn from this pattern from Gingermelon.
At three inches tall she fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.
She sleeps in a little Altoids tin with her mattress, pillow and felt blanket.
The blanket is just a square piece of felt. I did a blanket stitch around the edge and sewed a small piece of lace to the top.
The mattress and pillow were simple to make. Here are the steps to make your own:
Start with a scrap of fabric measuring 5″x8″ and trace the shape of the Altoids tin on the wrong side of the fabric.
Fold the fabric in half (right sides together) and cut a rectangle of quilt batting (or felt) slightly larger than the Altoids tin.
Place the batting (or felt) under the folded fabric and sew all three layers together using your pencil line as a guide. Don’t forget to leave a small opening on one side.
Trim the fabric to 1/8 inch around the stitching.
Using the small opening turn your mattress right side out and press.
Hand sew your opening shut and you have a little mattress that fits perfectly into your tin!
Repeat these same steps for the pillow and your little mouse is all ready to be tucked in.
Sweet dreams little mouse!
