MORE ABOUT ME

I'm Tessie -Welcome home!

It is one week into the “One Room Challenge” and it is NOT going well.

I spent many hours painting Emma’s room this week, but now I am having serious second guesses about the wall color. It is just not minty enough. Grrrrrrrr! Benjamin Moore fresh mint was just a little too light and I feel like it is making my white trim look more tan… yuck! I kept trying to convince myself all week that the color would be just fine once we got all the furniture and the other decorations in, but in my gut it still feels off.

I do love how the chocolate chips turned out. I purchased a roll of black vinyl at the craft store and cut it into little triangles. They stuck to the wall super easy and will be easy enough to pull off and redo again if I decide to repaint.

I found some great accessories at Target and PB Teen that are going to pull the room together nicely. I love the pretty peachy pinks and the various textures.

I’m going to use the pink and white striped curtains to make a valance for the window and also hang under Emma’s loft bed. I also designed a little “sprinkle” wallpaper to add to the top of her bed. It should look something like this…

I’ve also been super busy designing patterns for this room. Since I am a surface pattern designer I wanted to use my own patterns for the wallpaper on the bed and for different accents throughout the room. Unfortunately my taste and the taste of my 8 year old daughter are quite different! It has been tricky trying to find a happy medium. Here are a few of the patterns I designed this week:

I desperately want to add one of the pretty florals to the bed but alas I have been out voted by Emma who is decidedly pro-sprinkles and anti-floral.

For the mid century hutch, I am planning on removing the glass and lining the back of the shelves with this pretty little diamond pattern.

Honestly, I am just feeling frustrated at the moment with the thought of painting all over again. Oh well, it is definitely better to get it right instead of staring at it for years to come and wishing it was different.

I guess I am off to the paint store to buy more paint! I’ll keep you posted 🙂
