Did you know that you can paint your granite countertops to look like marble? I seriously had no idea until I saw a few other bloggers doing it. It seemed like a horrible idea at first, but the more I researched the more I was intrigued and knew I had to try it.
You guys! It was an absolute GAME CHANGER! I’m shocked with how well they turned out and three months later they are holding up great.
Here’s a video with all the details of how I did it 🙂

Essentially, I bought this painting kit and followed the video tutorial from Giani (the makers of the kit). Below is a photo of everything that was included in the kit 🙂
Supplies for painting your granite countertops:
- This PAINTING KIT purchased from Amazon
- Frog tape or other painter’s tape
- Rubbing alcohol and lacquer thinner (for cleaning the counters first)
- Video tutorial from Giani Marble showing the step-by-step process
The Before:
We’ve lived in this house for 2 years and I’ve loved almost everything about our kitchen except for the giant center island. I love the functionality of the center island, but the granite countertops were super dark and speckly.
It was always hard to tell whether they were dirty or clean and I felt like they sucked a lot of the bright and happy light out of the room.
I was planning on replacing them with marble (and I may still do that someday) but I couldn’t afford it and for $200 the price of painting the granite countertops was definitely worth it.
The After:
And here is the “after”!!! Are you dying? I seriously love them so much!
They do such a wonderful job of brightening up the space!
I’ve been amazed at how well the epoxy/resin looks. I love the shine and after 3 months they seem to have been holding up great!
Here’s a closeup of some of the veins. Honestly, it was much easier than it looks! The video tutorial walks you through the whole process.
We spend so much time gathering around this island! With a whopping 8 barstools we have a lot of teenagers and friends here in the heart of our home.
Honestly, I love them so much I could hug them! Oh wait, I actually do 🙂 They are my FAVORITE!
This was such a fun project to paint our granite countertops and one that has made a huge difference in the look and feel of our home ❤️
